Unnic Casino Welcomes 22,000 Visitors Since Opening

Since its grand opening on March 4, 2023, Andorra’s first fully-fledged hotel casino, Unnic, has quickly established itself as a premier entertainment destination. Within just weeks, the venue has welcomed an impressive 22,000 visitors, marking a significant milestone for the country’s hotel, gaming and leisure industry.

Prime Location in Andorra la Vella

Strategically located on Prat de la Creu in the heart of Andorra la Vella, Unnic has become a major attraction in the capital. The hotel & casino employs 200 staff members and has been drawing an average of 1,000 daily visitors, with approximately 900 guests dining at its restaurants each day. Its grand opening night alone saw more than 2,100 attendees, with 70% of visitors being Andorran residents and 30% international tourists.

A Multi-Million Euro Investment in Luxury Gaming

Unnic was developed in collaboration with Grupo Orenes, a Spanish gaming and hospitality operator, following a competitive bidding process. The project required an investment of more than €25 million, resulting in a state-of-the-art casino spanning 7,500 square meters. The gaming area boasts 150 slot machines alongside classic table games such as blackjack, roulette, and poker. Beyond the on-site gambling, Unnic positions itself as a comprehensive hotel and entertainment venue, offering comfortable recreation, international poker tournaments, live shows, and various events.

A Premier Gastronomic Experience

One of the venue’s standout features is its gastronomic offerings, curated by an elite team of local chefs and renowned cocktail expert Javier de las Muelas of Dry Martini fame. The diverse dining experience has contributed significantly to the casino’s footfall, with nearly all daily visitors indulging in the venue’s culinary delights.

Overcoming Regulatory Challenges

Unnic’s establishment was not without hurdles. The licensing process was embroiled in a three-year-long legal battle between the Andorran regulatory authority and competing operators who were unsuccessful in securing the tender.

A Vision for the Future

Marc Martos, CEO of Jocs SA, has ambitious plans for Unnic’s future, aiming to attract approximately 250,000 visitors annually. He envisions the venue drawing guests not only from Andorra but also from neighboring France, Spain, and Portugal, as well as the United Kingdom and Russia.

Leadership and Industry Expertise

The casino’s operations are overseen by Casino Director Josep Dos Santos, a veteran in the industry with an extensive background at Casino Gran Madrid Colón and Torrelodones. He also previously served as a professor at the Croupiers School of Gran Casino Barcelona and was instrumental in developing the Gran Casino Orenes Training School.
